'Going Bacharach: The Songs of An Icon' just opened at the Apollo Theater.

"Going Bacharach: The Songs of An Icon" just opened at the Apollo Theater. The hits from the legendary composer include "I Say A Little Prayer," "What The World Needs Now" and "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head.

"Ta-Tynisa Wilson grew up in Aurora and studied at Columbia College. She's one of the stars of the musical review. She said it's great to be back home with this show.

"If you let my mom tell it, it was when I was 3 years old, and she heard me singing a Janet Jackson song in the back seat of a car. But I think in high school is when I really discovered ," Wilson said.

"I just knew growing up I was going to be the next Beyoncé. I loved show choir growing up and just singing.

""It is so incredible; I learned so much about Burt Bacharach. There's some jams in there, man, some really good songs in there," she said.

"That was such a unique sound back in that time. So I try to incorporate my own sound with that style," Wilson said. ," then "Hamilton" and "The Bodyguard.

" "Sometimes I have to remind myself of what I've accomplished. I am really proud to be this girl from Aurora who has now made her way across the world performing," she said.

"Oh, my goodness, please, please, please come see 'Going Bacharach. ' You will not be disappointed. "But Wilson hopes it gets extended so she can be back home longer.
