President Trump said Mamdani is 'destroying New York'
Zohran Mamdani responded on Friday, a day after President Donald Trump ripped the New York City mayor for his "tax the rich" agenda. During a roundtable discussion in Las Vegas on Thursday, Trump of Mamdani, "I mean, he's a nice guy.
Calls me all the time, says hi, but his policies are no good." Earlier in the day, the president posted on social media that Mayor Mamdani was, "destroying New York." Mamdani then responded on Friday, saying 93% of New Yorkers pied-à-terre taxon non-city residents who buy luxury properties in the city, saying it will raise "half a billion dollars every year," and will raise money to fund "essential city services like free child care, cleaner streets and safer neighborhoods."Mamdani said he's made it clear to Trump and to the public that he's "deeply supportive of taxing the rich, and taxing non-resident secondary homes worth more than $5 million falls right within that."
