Lisa Newton, of Lucky Dawg Animal Rescue, got a call from one of her volunteers about several kittens being found inside the Lowe's location on Cornerstone Boulevard in Downingtown.

Two litters of kittens are now being cared for by a local rescue after they were found living inside a Lowe's store. On Saturday, Lisa Newton, of Lucky Dawg Animal Rescue, got a call from one of her volunteers about several kittens being found inside the Lowe's location on Cornerstone Boulevard in Downingtown.

'They directed me to the Garden Center and said they have seven kittens, and I was surprised at that. And, they said, 'Two separate litters,'' Newton recalled. Newton said employees found the kittens when they went to pull down a pallet. The animals, estimated to be three or four weeks old, had been living in boxes on the top shelf. 'They had to get the forklift and go up and get them. One of the litters, you could tell that's where the mom had delivered them,' she said.

Newton placed the kittens in her carrier and took them home. She is currently caring for them as she readies them for adoption. 'I'm just glad we got them early because once they start crawling around, they could fall and die,' she said. Newton said the litters belong to two moms, both feral cats who like to frequent this particular Lowe's Garden Center. They like it so much that they decided to give birth there. Her rescue has found one of the cats and is currently looking for the other. Their goal is to neuter both of them. 'Once we know about a situation, we try to quickly take care of the mom and dad so there are no more litters popping up,' she explained.

Newton said the kittens will be up for adoption in about a month. Anyone interested in adopting one of them should fill out an application onIn honor of where they were found, Newton has given them very unique names: Forklift, Herb, Pallet, Planter, Grass Seed, Lowe and Rose.
