An investigation is underway in West Hollywood after a man was shot on Tuesday afternoon. The shooting happened in the 7900 block of Norton Avenue shortly after 12 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department -- just one block from busy Santa Monica Boulevard. Investigators said an unknown number of rounds were fired, and the man was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
AIR7 flew above the scene, where the entire block was shut down at Fairfax Avenue due to the investigation. Further details about what led up to the shooting or a possible suspect were not immediately available, though according to unconfirmed reports, the man was walking with a woman and a small child when he was shot. No other injuries were reported.
'It's kind of crazy, you know? To think it could happen anywhere. Like, this is West Hollywood. It's usually a pretty safe place,' said neighbor John Thome. Another shooting was reported in the same general area last week, though it's unknown if it's connected to Tuesday's incident. On Thursday, April 9, a person was shot while on their balcony in the 1000 block of N. Vista Street. At last check, the suspect was still outstanding.
