The Jackie Robinson Museum will commemorate Jackie Robinson Day with two days of special programming on April 15 and 16, honoring the baseball legend's historic breaking of Major League Baseball's color barrier on April 15, 1947. The New York City museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, offering visitors 50% off admission and a lineup of engaging activities for all ages. Highlights include guided museum tours, interactive experiences, youthfocused Little League activities, and a special Third Thursday Lunchtime Tour on April 16.
A marquee event takes place on the evening of April 15, featuring an exclusive conversation with comedian Roy Wood Jr. and acclaimed sportswriter Howard Bryant. The discussion will explore Robinson's enduring influence on sports, culture, and civil rights. The evening program is free for museum members; tickets are available to the general public.
'Jackie Robinson's iconic contributions greatly impacted the social landscape of the nation,' said Della Britton, President and CEO of the Jackie Robinson Foundation. 'He demonstrated how talent, discipline, and a dedication to serving the community can impact generations.'
