Firefighters have put out a massive fire that began ripping through an industrial complex in Queens on Friday night. The five-alarm fire broke out around 7:30 p.m. at a warehouse on 130th Street between 20th and 22nd avenues in College Point.

Eyewitness News was on scene Saturday morning as firefighters continued to dose hot spots with water, surpassing the 12th hour of the emergency response. Some of the smoke could be seen from miles away, blowing north up into Westchester County at one point. The smoke prompted the Mount Vernon Police Department to put out a notice about the smell of fire.Eyewitness News spoke with one man who works in the industrial complex, which is over 64,000 square feet and subdivided. "It was huge, I mean, there's no words to describe it," the man said. "So, that warehouse, the front part was like kitchen cabinets, we're a wholesaler. And the back side is just a lumber yard and building materials." Nearly 300 fire and EMS personnel responded to help battle the flames. At one point, the FDNY says eight towel ladders were in operation and completely surrounded the structure.Have a breaking news tip or an idea for a story we should cover?
