Smoke billowed from the site. Two employees were found with burn injuries and taken to hospitals, the fire department said. One firefighter suffered minor burn injuries and was also taken to the hospital."This is our extraction facility, where we extract oil from corn germ. This is a dust collector outside of that building, and employees as we understand that were responding to a high-level probe that indicated a level of the dust collector when this event occurred," Ingredion Argo facility plant manager Brian Kueber said.There was no hazardous materials response. Ingredion is a global food ingredient manufacturer that uses corn and other fruits and vegetables to produce sweeteners, starches and corn oil. The location has 390 full-time employees. "Our care and concern is for our employees. Their families have been notified, en route to the hospital to be with them. It looks like the injuries are not that serious at this point," said Rick Wiln, with Ingredion corporate communications.
