A death investigation is underway after a body was found in the northwest suburbs, police said. Chopper 7 was over the scene at a retention pond at Higgins and Innovation Drive in Elk Grove Village, in front of a number of warehouses in the area.
There was a large police presence there for multiple hours, surrounding the water.Elk Grove Police confirmed a male body was found in the water in the 700 block of Innovation Drive. Police said they are still working to identify who the man is. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office was called to the scene. There was an incident just last month where Elk Grove Police were searching the same exact pond after reports of a missing 26-year-old man named Alexis Ramirez. At that time, the search led to no one being found.The family said they are still waiting for police to confirm if this is in fact their loved one who was pulled from the pond Thursday.Copyright © 2026 WLS-TV.
