23-year-old arrested after failed car trade leads to death of 18-year-old in Alvin, officials sayALVIN, Texas -- A 23-year-old has been arrested after an apparent failed car trade resulted in the death of a teenager last week, according to the Alvin Police Department.
Alvin police issued a press release stating that Eric Olvera, 23, of Alvin, was found after nearly a week on the run from law enforcement. According to court records, he was charged by warrant for murder. On the evening of April 2, APD said they received a 9-1-1 call of someone saying the passenger in his car had been shot and was wounded. The driver and the victim had been traveling on S.H. 35 and were found by officers who responded. The victim, identified as Sugar Land 18-year-old Emad Siddiqui, had been found in the backseat of the car and was taken to the hospital, where he later died, officials said. An investigation into the matter revealed the scene happened just a mile from where the victim had been found, at a nearby gas station, officials said. According to police, the shooting stemmed from a vehicle trade agreement between Olvera and Siddiqui. Officials did not immediately find Olvera and notified the public that he was to be considered armed and dangerous. On Tuesday, officials said the suspect had been found and taken into custody on Monday evening. He is currently being held without bond.
