The FAA held a meeting on Wednesday with major airlines to talk about a scheduled reduction at Chicago's O'Hare airport over safety concerns.

"With summer travel coming up, I just think there's going to be possible extra congestion. I think O'Hare tends to move pretty quickly already though," traveler Luke Latham said. They say the big air carriers have over scheduled flights, potentially stressing the airport's terminals, runways and air traffic control system.

"Anything would be safer. I actually live in D.C. So last year when all the stuff was going on with that flight that was very scary so if it would be safer, I'd say that's a good idea," traveler Rana Spurlock said. The moves comes as both United Airlines and American Airlines announced plans significantly increase flights. The aviation giants continue to spar over the number of gates and look to increase their market share as O'Hare undergoes major terminal expansion. While American Airlines has said: "The FAA now has the opportunity to achieve an improved customer experience for passengers traveling from, to, and through Chicago this summer." United says they share "their commitment to running a safe and reliable operation out of ORD and look forward to a collaborative discussion." The Chicago Department of Aviation said they will work with the FAA, adding that O'Hare is well equipped to handle any future traffic growth.Man proposes in front of Chili's at Chicago's O'Hare airport
