A relative told Eyewitness News the man died shortly at around 8 p.m. Wednesday. The man's pregnant wife spent the night hospitalized, being monitored after she was overwhelmed by grief. Meantime, in Park Ridge, New Jersey, a woman was seriously injured by a tree that fell through her Park Avenue house.In Fort Totten, Queens, a 68-year-old man, a 70-year-old woman and another person were injured after the car they sat in was smashed by a tree. Police say this all happened when the vehicle was stopped in traffic on Duane Road, inside the park at around 9:05 p.m.In Queens Village, a downed tree snapped in half. Residents in the area say it was struck by lightning. "As soon as the lightning struck the tree the power just went out. And I looked up and I saw the tree outside and it just fell on the power lines and everything just went black," Ashton Usher, neighborhood resident, told Eyewitness News. More than 50,000 customers remained without power on Thursday morning in New Jersey, while a few hundred people were affected in New York City.
