Historically, each time Kaizer Chiefs loses a game prior to to a Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates, Amakhosi secure the bragging rights. SLSiya MORE:
This week Chiefs lost 2-1 to Swallows FC in a Premiership encounter and the side get ready to take on the Buccaneers in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals. In addressing the media this week ahead of this clash, Amakhosi head coach Arthur Zwane said that history counts for nothing going into this game.
"It counts for nothing. It is just in the minds if the people and we have to remove that kind of thinking and concentrate on the game at hand. You know we have won the Nedbank Cup 19 times as a team. We want to win it for the 20th time and to do that we have first to reach the finals. To reach the finals, we have to play against Pirates and win. And that's where the focus should be. Not the history that people talk about," Zwane said to the media ahead of the derby.

"I have won this trophy as a player before and it would be good to win it as a coach as well. But as I have said history counts for nothing if we can't win on Saturday. Pirates will be a different team on Saturday so we have to prepare ourselves for that.
"They will come with a different approach. They won't want to lose three times in one season to us. That's just how it is. So it won't be an easy game but as s team all we want is a win," the coach added.
