Former president Jacob Zuma says that he doesn’t understand why his son is being charged.

In 2014, his Porsche slammed into a minibus taxi on the M1 highway, killing two women.

For years the National Prosecuting Authority refused to press charges, however, this changed after lobby group Afriforum announced its intention to pursue the matter privately.“It is difficult to believe why such action is taken against him,” said the former president. “As you listen, there was an accident and there was an inquest, and normally when an inquest is made and everything is done, you believe everything is over.”

“Legal people did not see the need to charge but some people saw the need to charge but it is difficult to have a straight conclusion about that.”The Randburg court has postponed judgment to Friday on the application for the culpable homicide case to be discharged for the trial of Duduzane Zuma.
