There can't be a law for Zuma and another law for Ramaphosa, former president Jacob Zuma argued as he relied on judgments against him to show why President Cyril Ramaphosa's interdict bid against his private prosecution should be dismissed. | gerbjan

There can't be a law for Zuma and another law for Ramaphosa, former president Jacob Zuma has argued, relying on judgments against him for grounds to show why President Cyril Ramaphosa's interdict application against his private prosecution should not be granted.

In a strongly worded affidavit, Zuma said he was wrongly held responsible for state capture, accused the National Prosecuting Authority of bias and complained that the mainstream media favoured Ramaphosa over him. The corruption-accused former president further denied that his private prosecution, in which summons was served on Ramaphosa the day before the ANC's national elective conference, was politically motivated, and that even if the court disagreed, it was not a basis on which to stop it.Get 14 days free to read all our investigative and in-depth journalism.
