Shizuka’s father never let her do anything he didn’t approve of, even having a dog, and she was never able to fight back against him because she was taught to feel obligated to him for providing for her.
Thanks to Shizuka, Akira was able to regain his resolve, and after stopping a sudden zombie attack, he and everyone else at the truck stop officially cut ties with Kosugi. Akira wonders if he’ll ever find a job that’s right for him, but Shizuka reassures him that something will come along in due time and that he should just enjoy himself until then. Akira’s confidence is restored once more, and the episode ends with the group returning to their trip to Gunma.
