Second-seeded Montclair took down top-seeded Livingston in the sectional final.

A little over three weeks ago, Montclair was left devastated on the field at Belleville High School. The Mounties, ranked No. 10 in the NJ.com Top 20, fell in PKs to their rival and No. 9 Livingston in the Essex County Tournament semifinals. Their chance at an elusive county title had been dashed. Livingston would go on to win the ECT title.

Exactly three weeks before that, they lost in overtime to that same Livingston team. That loss ruined their chance at winning the American division of the SEC. With that win, Livingston put itself in position to win the division title and did so just a few days after that.Montclair defender Carla Osborne just made the play of the first half and saved what likely would’ve been the tying goal.
