The designer stuck with her minimalist aesthetic for the collection, focusing on craft and sustainable fabrics that gave the understated garments an intriguing factor.
“This collection is a little bit like a travel collection,” Cornejo said. “It’s a little bit of vacation wear because a lot of our women in that time of the year are going to either a wedding or a graduation. The idea that any of these clothes, they’re just things that you can pack and take them away and they’re just forever pieces. That’s what I like — the most sustainable things are just pieces that you buy and you keep forever, and then you actually love them.
The collection had an emphasis on effortless shirting, with standout styles like a shirtdress with a shoulder pleat detail and a classic white dress shirt paired with a matching skirt with a scrunched design.Cornejo brought back several motifs from her archives, namely a multicolored print that’s created from two photographs she took. Another standout print was a navy and gold jacquard style that gave the styles a cool factor.
The designer utilized her tried-and-true sustainable fabrics for the collection, such as eco denim, silk charmeuse and others, showing her knack for creating newness and innovation while staying committed to her values. Cornejo’s collection showed her strengths in leveraging sustainable materials and updating core silhouettes for the modern-day customer.
