Zelensky said Friday's spat with Trump 'not good for both sides' and Ukraine can't change attitudes toward Russia on a dime.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declined to apologize twice during Friday night's interview with Fox News' Bret Baier after the contentious news conference in the Oval Office earlier in the day.
Baier first asked Zelensky, 'Do you think you owe an apology to President Trump?'He responded, 'I'm thankful to President Trump and to congress's bipartisan support...We are strategic partners, and even in such tough dialogue...I think that we have to be on the same side...to stop Putin.'The two world leaders, along with Vice President JD Vance, engaged in a heated exchange Friday as they met to sign a deal that would give the U.S. access to Ukraine's rare earth minerals as part of pursuing a peace deal with Russia.During a conversation in front of cameras, relations broke down as Trump and Zelensky started arguing in front of reporters, leading to Vance jumping in and scolding Zelensky, accusing him of campaigning with Democrats in 2024 and not being 'grateful' for U.S. support to fight off the Russian invasion. After the blow up, a press conference was canceled, and the signing of the minerals deal was scuttled. This is a developing news story and will be updated as more information is available.
