The Justice League and Watchmen director still thinks theaters are crucial for cultural impact.
A month after making a controversial comparison between the biggest movie of last year and his own Netflix hit, director Zack Snyder straightened a few things out. Speaking to io9 recently about his new film Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver, Snyder gladly clarified a comment he made on The Joe Rogan Experience where he said more people saw the first Rebel Moon than Barbie .
So, people are like, ‘Snyder’s delusional,’ and I am just like ‘I don’t know what to tell you.’” Snyder also clarified that his Netflix math was referring only to Barbie’s theatrical numbers. Numbers, he’s certain, have since skyrocketed even further with streaming, rewatches, cable, and more. “Who knows what done on Max and all that,” he said. Even so, the question remains about the Netflix to theatrical comparison and he admitted there’s no comparison in terms of the impact.
