Kuntz isn’t just an athletic outlier. A former 5-star recruit who originally enrolled at Penn State before transferring to Old Dominion, combing through Kuntz’s game tape is a worthy exercise. I quickly located an intriguing tight end prospect whose outstanding size makes him a mismatch nightmare for opposing safeties and linebackers.
Old Dominion lined up Kuntz all over their offensive formation and the results were consistently fruitful. Kuntz runs nuanced routes that quickly make him available to his quarterback. He alters his tempo to uncover while possessing enough speed to stress defenders up the seam. Kuntz suffered a season-ending injury just four contests into his 2022 campaign. The Camp Hill, Pennsylvania native recorded just 12 receptions for 144 receiving yards and two touchdowns as a result. That’s partially why Kuntz’s performance at the combine was so critical to determining his draft-day value.
Kuntz was a complete difference-maker when healthy in 2021. Kuntz was the focal point of Old Dominion’s offense, accounting for 73 receptions, 692 yards, and five touchdowns in 13 appearances. Kuntz ranked second among the nation’s tight end leaders in receiving yards in 2021.
