YouTube Chief Executive Officer Susan Wojcicki will step down after nearly a decade of leading the Google-owned video site, a major shake-up for one of the world’s most important entertainment platforms.

Wojcicki has been a part of Google since the company’s beginnings in 1998 — it was in her parents’ Silicon Valley garage that Larry Page and Sergey Brin began building the search giant. Brin later married her sister, and Wojcicki stayed with the company, rising through the ranks and holding a number of major roles before being appointed head of YouTube in 2014.
