YouTube has issued a critical new warning as password hackers strike using a privately-shared video. Here’s what you need to know.
“YouTube and its employees will never attempt to contact you or share information through a private video.,” Rob from Team YouTube said; “If a video is shared privately with you claiming to be from YouTube, the video is a phishing scam.
”Today’s NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers For Wednesday, March 5thCleverly, what the would-be hacker has done in this campaign is create a video using YouTube to instruct the potential victim which also uses functionality within YouTube to share this video, all adding to the credibility of the attack. It's important to note that there were several red flags within the original email sent from YouTube, Adam Pilton, a senior cybersecurity consultant at CyberSmart, said. “The word creators was misspelt and at the foot of the email, YouTube explicitly States YouTube and its employees will never attempt to contact you or share information through a private video,” Pilton explained. Anna Collard, senior vice president of content strategy at KnowBe4, it’s the deepfake aspect that is worrying here. “The use of deepfake videos of YouTube’s CEO isn’t groundbreaking,” Collard said; “What has changed is the ease and accessibility of AI, which makes these scams appear more polished and credible.” Indeed, Collard said that“The key defence remains the same,” Collard concluded, “digital mindfulness and a zero-trust mindset. Pause before reacting impulsively, particularly if it triggers an emotion or existing bias, verify independently, and never assume legitimacy just because something looks real.” Even if it’s a YouTube video that is warning of changes to your monetization methods.
