Young activists tell UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres that if he fails to take strong actions to combat climate change they 'we will mobilise to vote you out'
Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres speaks as Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg listens at the Youth Climate Summit at United Nations HQ in the Manhattan borough of New York, New York, U.S., September 21, 2019.
More than 700 mostly young activists attended the first of its kind Youth Climate Summit, according to Luis Alfonso de Alba, the UN special climate summit envoy. "Stop the criminal contaminant behavior of big corporations," said Argentine climate activist Bruno Rodriguez. "Enough is enough. We don't want fossil fuels anymore."
Guterres said he sees "a change in momentum" going into Monday's Climate Action Summit taking place ahead of the UN General Assembly gathering of world leaders that starts Tuesday, telling the youths "you have started this movement."
