A letter writer wants to know why three of the state’s leading Republican candidates have ignored the League of Women Voters’ website.Re: “County’s $300K grant hits sour note,” Metro, Wednesday.
I applaud you for covering this important discussion by the county commissioners and the input from the community as well as the commissioners’ subsequent decision related to this grant. But, I also believe it is important that the facts be accurately reported. Contrary to the statement that the Classical Music Institute, a music education and resident company of the Tobin Center for Performing Arts, will use the grant money with the ballet and opera “as part of outreach concerts throughout the community,” the grant money will be used to cover the cost of providing music for the opera’s and ballet’s performances at the Tobin Center — not out in the community.
