This cell is for youth inmates at the Ellis Unit in Huntsville. A letter writer reminds teen offenders they could end up incarcerated well into their adult life.I’m a mother who fears for my family in a warming world. I am writing to ask your paper to press candidates running for the Texas Senate, congressional seats and governor to clearly state their positions on the climate crisis and how they plan to deal with this emergency.

According to the Yale Climate Opinion Survey, 72 percent of Texans believe global warming is happening and 65 percent are actively worried. Seventy-seven percent think public schools should be teaching global warming. What are these politicians prepared to do to confront this emergency? The public has a right to know. I beg you to get clarity from Texas’ candidates.I hear and see on the news stories of teenagers, 14, 15, 16 years old who are robbing, assaulting and shooting people. I also believe some believe that, at most, they will be confined only until they turn 18.

I hope that through the media, schools or any other means they will be told they can be declared an adult and prosecuted as one. Hopefully that would make them change their mind. I hate that a young teen could possibly receive life without parole and have his whole life lost because of one bad decision, like my nephew who had just turned 16 when he was sent to the penitentiary, after which he committed suicide.Lane markings are certainly important to human drivers right now.

Modernizing the way markings are applied and maintained is a current, and forward-looking, transportation issue for the city.
