Sen. Ted Cruz was not swayed by the American Academy of Pediatrics’. He believes that Muppet father Louie was dangerously misguided when he let little Elmo get the shot. You might recall that last year there was quite a flap when Cruz criticized Big Bird for getting the shot.
Thank goodness for Cruz, a man not afraid of being parodied on “Saturday Night Live” for doing what’s right — far right, that is.I read the article about Sen. Ted Cruz “bashing” Sesame Street over its skit when Elmo’s parent takes Elmo to the doctor to get vaccinated after the CDC gave its thumbs-up to COVID shots for children. The show has always tried to keep children informed in an appropriate developmental way regarding current issues.
Perhaps Cruz would rather Elmo learned how to pack a carry-on to leave the country during an energy crisis in Texas?First it was Big Bird. Now Ted Cruz is picking on Elmo, a Muppet on Sesame Street for advocating for vaccines for young children. He questions the safety of a vaccine that has been tested repeatedly to assure its use for children.
I wish he would be as concerned about the proliferation of guns, which are vastly more dangerous to our children. But I guess it’s easier and scores more political points with his base to cowardly pick on a cute, harmless, little Muppet than it is to take on a powerful gun lobby that makes huge donations to his campaign.
