Historian David McCullough was a lively and engaging writer whose fealty to the past enlightened our understanding of the present.Your recent editorial about the late historian David McCullough was truly outstanding .
You rightfully recognized this Pulitzer Prize-winning historian as a man whose insights about history illuminated the past in a way that is truthful as well as entertaining. I twice had the opportunity to have a conversation with McCullough, and your editorial captured exactly the man who “paints with his words, giving us pictures of the American people that live, breathe and, above all, confront the fundamental issues of courage, achievement and moral character.
Since Gov. Greg Abbott wants to send all the unwanted immigrants to Washington, D.C., or New York City, why don’t the foster homes, orphanages and poor mothers send all the new, unwanted babies to the Governor’s Mansion?Former President Donald Trump has floated another justification for keeping boxes of highly classified material at his Mar-a-Lago resort after leaving office. Trump said in a statement: “As we can all relate to, everyone ends up having to bring home their work from time to time.
Sorry, Mr. President, but “everyone” doesn’t get to keep boxes of top-secret material at home, especially after being fired and compelled to turn the workplace over to the new hire. That would get anyone in a lot of trouble. Even you.
