Birch, 32, faces life in prison for the murder convictions alone. He is scheduled to be sentenced April 22.Prosecutors used surveillance video which recorded Birch entering the the Circle K convenience store at 8263 South Quebec Street. He was wearing a mask and hooded sweatshirt. Birch approached the counter and asked for a carton of cigarettes.
Perez handed over $226.96 and 10 packs of cigarettes in a plastic bag. Birch thanked him and shot Perez in the abdomen.
