NHS nurse Laura Whittingham, 32, tragically died in her sleep and was discovered by her three-year-old, Ava.
A mum who died in her sleep aged just 32 was discovered by her three-year-old daughter, who tried to wake her. NHS nurse Laura Whittingham's husband, Carl, said how "everything was normal" as they went to bed on October 4.
Laura, who worked at Royal Stoke University Hospital alongside her husband, was described as a "Disney Queen" with the "most caring heart". As well as Ava, Laura leaves behind 20-month-old Mia, and stepdaughter Gracie-May, 13. “My dad called, he was worried that Laura wasn’t up to take the children to school. I called the police. When I got home the police had already broken into the house and as I got in they told me she’d passed away. I saw my three-year-old coming down the stairs after she tried to wake her up.
Top UK & World stories today Speaking about his relationship with Laura, whom he met when she was a ward assistant in 2012, Carl said: “We met at the hospital. It was just before she started her nurse's training. We both moved around different wards but we always met up at dinner time.
