Terry Francona said one of the big takeaways he hopes the young group carries back to minor league camp is to try and develop a level of consistency that will serve them well at the big league level.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — By Tuesday it was time for the next wave of Guardians top prospects to head down to minor league camp and set to work preparing for their seasons to open at the upper levels of Cleveland’s farm system.
Infielders Brayan Rocchio, José Tena, Angel Martínez, Juan Brito, outfielder/first baseman Jhonkensy Noel and righty Jason Bilous were optioned to Triple-A Columbus and right-hander Caleb Simpson was reassigned to minor league camp as the Guardians trimmed their spring roster to 45. The club optioned pitcher Joey Cantillo and outfielder George Valera while reassigning pitchers Logan Allen and Peyton Battenfield on Sunday.
