A “young child” in Hood County was recently diagnosed with the measles, the first time the virus has been confirmed in North Texas since 2019, according toHealth officials do not know how the child was exposed to the virus, which is considered “highly contagious,” the state department said in a Friday news release.
“The child had no history of travel to an area where measles is spreading and no known exposure to a person with measles,” the release stated.. The measles vaccine is highly effective, but even those who have been vaccinated “can occasionally become infected,” according to state health officials.
