Colorectal cancer is now the leading killer for those under 50. Two individuals have shared their experiences with Newsweek.

'Cancer doesn't discriminate—young, old, black, white, any shape, size, occupation,' said Anisha Patel, a bowel cancer survivor who was diagnosed at just 39. And she is far from alone.While cancer mortality in the U.S. has declined over the past 30 years, saving around 4 million lives due to smoking reduction, early detection, and treatment advances, colorectal cancer is rising among those under 55.
