A new poster for You season 4 shows Joe stalking season 3 character Marienne in Europe.
A new poster for You season 4 confirms that Joe still has his sights set on Marienne despite changing locations. The conclusion of Netflix's You season 3 saw Joe Goldberg fake his death in order to kill his wife Love and pin all of their crimes on her before fleeing the United States.
While the season ended with Joe in Paris having taken on the name Nick, the information released about season 4 has indicated some adjustments to Joe's plans. Netflix has revealed since the season 3 finale that Joe will be in London in the new season under the alias Jonathan Moore, a professor. SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Though Joe's season 3 obsession Marienne also relocated to Paris at the end of season 3 in an attempt to flee Joe with her daughter in tow, leading most viewers to speculate that You season 4 would focus on Joe's pursuit of her, she wasn't confirmed to be a major part of the new season until now. The official Twitter account for Netflix's You recently posted a new glimpse of the upcoming season, confirming that Joe will indeed continue going after Marienne, "the one who got away," in season 4. See the poster below:How Will The Setting Affect You Season 4? Marienne's appearance in the latest You poster indicates that season 4 will see the London-based Joe making a trip to Paris since the Eiffel Tower appears in the background of the shot. Given Joe's presence in Europe and the potential flexibility that his life as a lecturer could grant him, this trip may be one of several that Joe takes in order to keep stalking Marienne, who seemingly continues to be the object of his affections despite speculations that one of the new characters set for season 4 could capture his interest. If Joe has fallen in love with a new woman in London, perhaps he is hunting Marienne down because she knows about his past. Badgley has previously stated that You season 4 will change genres slightly and offer a twist on the usual format, causing a tonal shift, which may be informed by the new setting. While Joe has moved around in previous seasons, he never left the country in his efforts to escape his past actions. The teasers have indicated that the new version of Joe is extremely put-together and seemingly more sophisticated due to his new professor title, but the recent poster proves that he will not be altering his ways much despite the change in setting. Marienne's appearance in the new poster also proves that Joe cannot escape his past, no matter how much he runs away or changes his identity. If faking his death hasn't kept him from hunting down a seemingly suspicious Marienne, it's possible that Joe will be sloppier in Europe due to a false sense of security. Additionally, with Marienne returning, there is a real possibility of other characters from previous seasons making comebacks as well, which could include You season 2's Ellie Alves . Either way, You season 4 is shaping up to be an intriguing installment of the Netflix thriller series when part one releases on February 9.
