You’re never too old to set new goals, dream new dreams
This is what it felt like.I made my stage debut. On a real stage. Performing a solo show I wrote, myself.It was a comedy. People laughed.My known-to-be-hard teacher told me I did a really good job. That I really made a connection with the audience. That he was pleased.
I could tell he was a little surprised, too, because, well, it WAS my first time. He had no idea what to expect. Certainly not what he saw.The lights hit me and I was off to the races. It wasn’t a perfect performance but it was good. No stage fright. I think it was because I was so well-rehearsed. I had worked very hard on this all-consuming show. I set new goals and I met them.
My parents featured prominently and, to be honest, in death as in life, my mother was everyone’s favorite character.I plan to perform another section in December. And then it will take me about a year to shape up the entire show, which is probably about an hour and 20 minutes. And to memorize it. Because THAT was the hardest part for me. And then, I am going to start performing it around. Who knows, maybe in your town.It’s never too late to set new goals and dream new dreams.
