You need to hear the new RUF SCR tear up the Autobahn.
. The SCR is powered by RUF's version of the old"Mezger" flat-six used in 997 GT3 models, enlarged to 4.0 liters for an output of 510 hp at 8270 rpm and 346 lb-ft of torque at 5760 rpm. Redline is 8750 rpm, and the sound as you approach it is unforgettable. The only transmission available is a six-speed manual developed by ZF specifically for RUF.
Being made from carbon fiber, with steel used for front and rear subframes and an integrated roll cage, the SCR is very light, with a curb weight of 2756 pounds. That gives it a much better power-to-weight ratio than today's 911 GT3, so its pace is entirely unsurprising. There's too much traffic in the video to reach the car's 200-mph top speed, but it easily exceeds 150 mph.
I didn't have the chance to go nearly this fast, yet I can still say the SCR is one of the best cars I've ever driven. And any time I want to remember what it was like behind the wheel, I'll watch this video.
