The new Lock Vision series features an emergency backup battery and Matter-over-Wi-Fi support.
SwitchBot has announced a new deadbolt smart lock that can be unlocked with a glance. Like the Keypad Vision that SwitchBot launched last year, the new Lock Vision series unveiled at CES uses 3D facial recognition technology to enable “near-instant unlocking” after scanning your face.
The Lock Vision is the first smart lock from SwitchBot that needs to be installed directly into your door in place of a traditional lock, instead of being retrofitted over existing locks like all its previous smart lock products. It supports Matter-over-Wi-Fi connectivity for direct integration with Apple Home. SwitchBot says the included rechargeable battery can run for six months on a single charge, with an additional backup battery that lasts up to five years. Two variations have been announced, but SwitchBot hasn’t revealed the price or availability for either version yet. The base Lock Vision model can be unlocked using facial recognition, passcodes, app control, geofenced auto-unlocking, an NFC card, or a physical key. These options are also all available for the SwitchBot Lock Vision Pro, alongside fingerprint scanning and contactless palm-vein recognition.
