The new Airbnb Animal Experiences, launched on October 3, 2019, offers travelers a chance to get up close to animals in their natural habitat and meet the people dedicated to their welfare.
With the rise of responsible animal-related tourism, Airbnb is joining the cause with the latest addition to its experience-based bookings. The new, launched on October 3, 2019, offers travelers a chance to get up close to animals in their natural habitat and meet the people dedicated to their welfare.
This marks the dawn of a major booking platform offering a category for animal experiences emphasized by a progressive welfare policy. This comes on the heels of TripAdvisor announcing the end of sales to events and attractions involving captive marine animals. Instead of swimming with confined dolphins, you will find it much more rewarding to travel with a scientist and see them in their natural habitat.
Airbnb is offering 1,000 experiences, co-hosted by 300 species and their human champions, in 58 countries. The trips will also introduce guests to conservationists, scientists, naturalists, farmers and beekeepers that are furthering the cause of animal protection. Out of the animal experiences, 100 are part of Social Impact Experiences, with proceeds from bookings going to non-profit organizations focused on conservation, animal rescue and veterinary care.
