In the passenger seat, a kid was seen covered in blood with their leg extended through the open passenger window and a large, bleeding gash in their right thigh.
The police said they were not restrained at the time of the crash. Another child was in the car at the time of the crash, but they said they weren't hurt and were wearing a seatbelt at the time. During a conversation with the police at the scene, Jackson said she was driving around 35 miles per hour before crashing. A witness told police he saw Jackson's vehicle seemingly being driven while out of control.
She entered the roadway while speeding on a wet road and appeared to hydroplane and try to overcorrect before flipping the car several times. While speaking with the police, Jackson said she had been drinking wine at a family reunion around three hours before but denied being under the influence.
However, according to charging documents, she noticeably smelled like alcohol and had bloodshot eyes. Near the crash, an officer said they noticed Jackson was very unsteady on her feet and she lost her balance while walking up a small embankment. A breath analysis at the scene showed the presence of alcohol, after which Jackson grew non-compliant and somewhat disruptive. As she was being placed in the patrol car, the police said Jackson burped, and it smelled strongly of alcohol.
A bottle of partially empty Hennessy was found in the wreckage, according to charging documents. While trying to get a blood sample at an area hospital, Jackson began complaining of body aches that she said were caused by the crash.
