A south-central Pennsylvania school district is facing a lawsuit after a student reported a threat and was brutally assaulted the following day, according to the court filing. The suit was filed Feb. 12 by the parents of a South Western School District student, who was reportedly attacked by another high school student in 2025.
According to the lawsuit, on April 28, a student threatened to curb-stomp the victim, and the victim was urged to go to the administrator's office and report the threat. While in the office, the student spoke to Toshia Brodbeck, the dean of students at South Western High School, who allegedly told the student to come back the next day and fill out a report. According to the lawsuit, the next morning, the student was violently attacked in the bathroom and suffered serious injuries. Their injuries included:As a result, the father of the victim called the school's failure to act "reckless and/or willful." Due to the "intentional, reckless, and wanton conduct" of the student in question, the victim's family is asking for $50,000, plus all costs and other relief the court might deem necessary.
