A family is coming to terms with the recent and unexpected death of a father, brother, husband and friend.
Shawnathan Winters died on Friday while working on a tree cutting job in the middle of the Susquehanna River. He was 40 years old.PREVIOUS COVERAGE |Danielle never expected that would be her last goodbye to her husband. He was supposed to return home from work last Friday but died on the job.
“The crew leader said, 'I’m so sorry,'" Danielle explained. "He said the saw nicked the rope and he fell."“But that didn’t stop the guys," Danielle said. "They performed CPR for 45 minutes until the EMS got there." His employees tried everything they could to save his life. They share a blended family with four kids, ages 5 to 19. They all share special memories with their dad, and they’re thankful they were able to have him in their lives.
“I was able to sit down and tell him I was happy of the man he was, and I was happy the way the family was going," said Shawnathan 's step-son, Cohen Kanaack. "It just keeps hitting me over and over again that he’s not coming back."
