Assistant Defence Minister Matt Thistlethwaite has called Opposition Leader Peter Dutton “yesterday’s man” after Dutton’s approval ratings took a dive to minus 28 per cent.
“I think Australians see him as yesterday’s man; I think the brand of politics that’s practised by Peter Dutton; Australians have clearly said they reject and they wanna move on from,” Mr Thistlethwaite told Sky News host Sharri Markson.
“You’ve seen that in the recent decision the Liberal Party made around the Voice, here was an opportunity for Peter Dutton and the Liberal Party to show some leadership, to work corporately with the government on something that First Nations Australians have been calling for since 2017.”
