AN infectious disease expert believes that Covid-19 vaccinations will continue in the foreseeable future to curb infection levels and prevent severe and critical infection against the virus.

Dr. Rontgene Solante said that the current crop of vaccines' immunity wanes after six to eight months of getting the shot, while cases of the virus will continue to increase as long as there is sustained transmission.'One possible option is we will vaccinate against Covid-19 once or twice per year to maintain the protection so we cannot develop Covid-19,' Solante said.

1 million individuals for the first booster dose according to DoH data, or around 26 percent of the target 50 percent population.Solante also clarified the statement of the World Health Organization that 90 percent of the global population acquired some resistance against Covid-19.'The 90 percent pertains to the global population that has received the vaccine, so they have a certain form of immunity against Covid-19,' he said.
