Northeast Columbus residents have suggestion the addition of a stoplight and additional street lighting at the intersection of Westerville Rd. and Valley Park Ave. WSYX spoke to the Northeast Columbus residents living in the area last year. Many said the intersection was dangerous and needed safety enhancements.Some neighbors suggested the addition of a traffic light and more street lights along Westerville Road.
"All the neighbors in here want a stop light," resident Larry Rodgers said. "I guess a little kid’s life is not important enough. That’s the way I see it. If it was their kid, they might be doing things differently.""The City of Columbus refreshed the crosswalk pavement markings at this intersection, and the flashing signal continues to operate when activated for pedestrians and cyclists to cross here on Westerville Rd.
Briner said there is a possibility a stoplight could be added in the area to service the traffic that would be driving in and out of the city's Kilbourne Run Sports Park, though there was no timeline on those plans.
