Two fan-favorite Yankees could be at the top of the team's trade block come the deadline, according to one insider
and their fans have come to love a former Red Sox player, but their relationship could end soon if they make a bold move by MLB’s July 30 trade deadline.
Alex Verdugo is slashing .261/.324/.441 with eight homers, 33 RBIs and a 118 wRC+ in 238 plate appearances. He’s been an asset in left field and a key clubhouse presence.are among the MLB-best Yankees’ prime trade pieces — even if trading them comes with risks. The goal of moving Verdugo would be to free a spot in the lineup for outfielder Jasson Domínguez.
“Would the Yankees mess with team chemistry to get a needed asset and get Domínguez into the lineup? Maybe. Would the Yankees have a hard time filling in behind Torres at second base? Also maybe, though they have internal options inThe Yankees, at 42-19, have options at either of those positions if they are to trade Verdugo and Torres to win now and for the future.
Torres is another story. His triple slash line of .230/.308/.324 is a career low as is his 83 wRC+. Torres’ defense at second base is also not good, either. Even though Torres has been a lineup mainstay since he debuted in 2018, he is likely playing his last games with the Yankees as he enters free agency.
