Yankees struggle to solve Lucas Giolito, fall to White Sox in series opener. RepBX
Josh Donaldson hit his third homer in three games on the first pitch from Hendriks in the bottom of the ninth. Hendriks then finished the two-hitter by getting three straight groundouts, punctuating the final out with a loud scream and a fist pump.
"That was one of those things where we weren't going to rush the situation," Chicago manager Pedro Grifol said."I thought we hit our pockets really well with how we planned it before the game, and it turned out that way. I'm happy to see him get that one out of the way and let's move forward." "My last two I'm not proud of," Giolito said."Coming into Yankee Stadium, definitely wanted to set the tone for this series. Coming off a sweep and wanted to keep the momentum going and I'm glad we were able to do that tonight."
"Being able to get the out on the 3-2 count is massive as opposed to a walk or let them hang around and foul off a bunch of pitches," Giolito said."Getting that out is huge for momentum."
