The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly showing interest in a veteran free agent starting pitcher.
Everything appears to be going according to plan for Rich Hill.Hill, 44, said last October that he wanted to sign with a team in the second of the 2024 season. Then, in May, he reaffirmed the desire for that plan to MLB.com.Well, it's officially the second half of the 2024 season, and with five days until the MLB trade deadline, it appears Hill is starting to generate some interest on the free agent market.
While Hill wouldn't factor into the team's postseason pitching plan, he would definitely help eat some innings in the second half of the season.Eating innings is likely a reason the Dodgers have shown interest in Hill. The Dodgers have had an All-Star rotation on the injured list this season with Clayton Kershaw, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Walker Buehler, Bobby Miller, Dustin May, and Tony Gonsolin all spending time on the IL.
