The first hit has finally arrived for Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe.

Cross one more “first” off the list for Anthony Volpe.

The young Yankees shortstop recorded the first hit of his career on Saturday afternoon in The Bronx, in his second game and fourth major league plate appearance. Volpe, facing Giants righty Alex Cobb in the second inning, got behind 0-2 before lacing a 1-2 slider through the left side, just out of shortstop Brandon Crawford’s reach. The speedy 21-year-old induced a pickoff attempt from Cobb, then got a huge jump and stole second base — his second steal in as many big-league games — without a throw from Giants catcher Roberto Perez.

The 21-year-old Volpe, who improved to 1-for-3 with a walk and two steals in his young career, was stranded at second.Corey Sipkin for the NY Post
