Derek Jeter tried to teach the young shortstop a lesson after his player-of-the-game performance.

New York Yankees' Anthony Volpe celebrates in the dugout after hitting a grand slam against the Los Angeles Dodgers during the third inning in Game 4 of the baseball World Series, Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, in New York. That would be a post-game segment with FOX MLB analyst Derek Jeter, his childhood idol. This time, Volpe wasn’t watching a Jeter playoff highlight, but being interviewed by the icon himself.

The 23-year-old‘s grand slam in the bottom of the third inning gave the Yankees life and put the Yankees ahead for good during their 11-4 victory that staved off elimination against the Los Angeles Dodgers. It came off Daniel Hudson and scored, Aaron Judge, Jazz Chisholm and Giancarlo Stanton and followed Volpe’s bad baserunning in the second inning. On that play, Austin Wells rocketed a double to center field that Volpe, who was on second base, got a bad read on, so he only made it to third.

The star of Game 4, Volpe went 2 for 3 with three runs, four RBIs and two stolen bases, while batting in the seventh spot of the order. The Yankees will play Game 5, again with their playoff lives on the line, on Wednesday.
