Michael Kay disagrees with JJ Redick's use of expletive language during his introductory press conference as the Lakers head coach.
JJ Redick is introduced as the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers NBA basketball team Monday, June 24, 2024, in El Segundo, Calif. announcer Michael Kay referred to himself as “the old guy on the lawn shouting at clouds” before blasting Lakers coach J.J. Redick for dropping F-bombs in his introductory press conference.
Redick used the expletive language while answering a question from the Guardian’s Claire de Lune on what he most looks forward to disproving when it comes to his hiring. “I want to coach the Lakers. I want to coach the team. I don’t want to dispel anything. I don’t. I want to become a great coach in the NBA and I want to win championships and I want my players to maximize their careers. That is all I f---ing care about.”
“It’s interesting, because there are different levels of media, so if you want to curse on a podcast, right? Everybody does. It is because, OK, that person listening has chosen to listen to that podcast, but people that were watching the Lakers broadcast live... And he drops that F-bomb,” Kay said.
