Ripple's XRP was in the limelight on Thursday following the Chicago Board Options Exchange (Cboe) 19b-4 filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to list and begin trading XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for asset managers Canary Capital, WisdomTree, 21Shares and Bitwise.
Cboe Exchange filed 19b-4s to list and trade XRP ETF s submitted by issuers to the SEC. The SEC acknowledged Grayscale's filing for a Solana ETF , which was rejected under the previous administration. The regulator also acknowledged NYSE's 19b-4 to list and trade Grayscale's Litecoin ETF .
While the submission of 19b-4s does not guarantee approval from the SEC, the current administration provides a more suitable environment for approving the applications. 19b-4 forms are considered the second phase in the approval process for ETFs after the submission of S-1 filings byissuers. These forms request that the SEC permit an exchange to list and trade the ETFs mentioned.
